I hope it does well as the extracts are very interesting indeed. Certainly a good time for sales over here. I will pre-order it when it is available and hope that it crosses over to audiobook well (the many tables will doubtless need a PDF supplement - which isn’t always available these days - hopefully it will be).
Thanks John! I just spotted an audiobook page for the book on Amazon UK, so I think that’s already in the pipeline. And hopefully the book will be available for preorder on Amazon US soon!
Your concept of "not acting in a vacuum"resonated too.....
Would you agree that a big part social/organisation psychologists miss in their analyses is the actual relations with the personalities of ones peers, bosses and reports?
E.g. A boss who is, say, lower in conscientiousness and honesty-humility is going to present a problem to someone higher in both traits. The possibility of exploitation is also elevated.
Why do we look at humans within organisations so monolithically when we know, for example that managers and many leaders will be lower on agreeableness.
I am particularly fascinated by dark triad (after a personal experience with a malignant narcissist) because, at the very least we have demonstrated high empathy and dark traits coexisting in a desrructive cohort.
Yep, that probably is a big part of the problem: Some people focus on individual level variables and miss the situation, whereas others do the reverse. And an important part of any situation is the individual level variables of the people around us.
Any date for the new book as yet, Steve?
Not yet, I’m afraid. I’m hoping it’ll be out in 2026 - but everything’s still up in the air at the moment!
Hi again John - I've got a date for the new book now! It's June the 4th 2026. 👍
Excellent news, and I like the cover :)
